Fight Like a Warrior

Updated: Oct 24, 2020

For those of you that haven’t watched War Room, you can watch the trailer here: https://youtu.be/mIl-XY9t_Lw

I’ve watched this movie before but I recently re-watched it this last Saturday with my family and it really invigorated me spiritually. Overall, this movie is about prayer and asking God to fight for you when you keep losing everyday battles.

The main character, Elizabeth Jordan, is having issues with her marriage. Every day seems to be a new argument and she feels frustrated and out of options. Fortunately, she meets an elderly lady who has a strong faith in God and who guides her and instructs her how to “fight the right way.” All along she was fighting the wrong enemy. Instead of fighting against her husband, she should have left the fight up to God.

The significance of that really struck me because we as humans loooove to be in control. It gives us pride to know that we have a handle on things that happen in our lives.

Sadly, the truth is, WE DON'T .

Life throws us curveballs all the time and it is physically, mentally, and emotionally impossible to have control over all of it. This is where God comes in.

In the Bible God has promised to take care of us, to never leave us, and to fight our battles for us.

In Psalm 55:22 it says, “Cast your burdens on the Lord, and he shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” (NKJV)

In Deuteronomy 31:6 it says, “Be strong and of good courage , do not fear not be afraid of them ; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NJKV)

And in Deuteronomy 20:4 it says, “For the Lord is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.” (NJKV)

I have decided to start a prayer journal. I already have one prayer written down but I want to extend the challenge to all of you. Write down your prayers and then find a quiet place in your house or outside where you can be alone and uninterrupted and just pour your heart over your prayers. Read what the Bible has to say and share your concerns with God.

Whenever a prayer thought or request comes to mind, write it down and shoot up a quick prayer because you never know whose life you’re saving by interceding on their behalf. Be intentional and specific with your prayers and God WILL answer them.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” James 5:16 (NKJV)

These are just a few verses that I found, but God has told us time and time again that he’s got us, he’s by our side, and that we can leave the battles up to him. He’ll fight for us. All we have to do . . . is ask him.

In the movie, the meaning of “war room” was revealed. It was essentially a prayer room where you do your fighting. The only way we can join in on the fight is by praying constantly.

If you decide to challenge yourself and start a prayer journal let me know when you start and how it‘s going in the comments below :)
